I have now turned my attention to detailing the area around the Maltings quay. Capstans for moving the wagons and a rope going into the building, a horse to move wagons and some population. I haven’t been able to get the horse moving with the movement of the wagon though!!!
The crane is a Mikes Models, as is the tall oil lamp. The narrow boat is the latest in canal boat technology for the period in that it is steam driven. Again it is based on a photo-reduced Craftsmans models kit which I have converted into a steamer using plans in an excellent article by Allan Sibley in the Model Railway Journal No 16 of 1987.
The main bulk of the layout is now complete with all the mini dioramas. All that is needed now are horse drawn carts and other vehicles, signals and more people. I now need to turn my attention to more rolling stock, especially for the narrow[standard] gauge element of the layout.
